This winter, we distributed jackets to 6000 students in 6 provinces and 8 different districts (Details Below).

  1. Mugu: Located in Karnali province, it is known for being the most remote and least developed district of Nepal. Here, we distributed 1550 jackets to 9 different schools. The distribution in this region was led by one of our board members, Rosy Rana and Anil Baniya, a local from the Mugu Region.
  2. Darchula: It is located in the far-west region of Nepal (Sudarpaschim Province). Here, we distributed jackets to 386 students in 3 different schools. This distribution was headed by our director, Karma Sherpa and volunteers, Bablu Gupta, Ashiq & Nabin; one of whom is also a student supported under our scholarship with the 100 group.
  3. Sindhupalchok: It is one of the districts in Bagmati Province, located to the north. Here, We distributed 455 jackets to 10 different schools. Our Chairman, Pasang Wandi, headed the distribution. We were also graced with members from Sowers Action HK and Volunteers from Hong Kong.
  4. Siraha: Though located in the Terai region (Madhesh Province) of Nepal and generally thought of as a warm place in Nepal, when winter comes, the locals are often unprepared for the cold waves of winter and face threats to their lives. So, led by our director, Karma and local volunteers, we distributed 921 jackets to 2 schools.
  5. Okhaldunga: It is a district in the Koshi Province of Nepal. Here, we distributed 1973 jackets in 33 different schools. Our Chairman, Pasang Wandi Sherpa, headed this distribution with the help of 3 other volunteers: Karma Tsering, Sangye Dolma & Maya Sherpa.

Ngagyur Memorial School and Padmai Gatsal Secondary School School April 2023 | June 30, 2023

Sanitary Pads Distribution

We have started sanitary pads distribution for Ngagyur Memorial School and Padmai Gatsal Secondary School. In our previous visits to the schools, we were made aware of the need for sanitary pads for the safety and health of the girls in the school. Since all the students in both schools come from underprivileged backgrounds, the monthly recurring cost of buying sanitary pads was a huge burden. In the face of that, we have now started to provide them with sanitary pads every month starting from July 1, 2023, to 618 students.

Nagmandir, Gokarneshwor

Public Library

Libraries are a great repository of knowledge. They have the potential to become cultural hubs that anchor the surrounding community and draw disparate groups to one space. They provide a conducive environment for learning, growing, networking, etc. Moreover, it also serves as a disciplined and safe area to study - away from the disturbances and distractions of home. And yet, so few libraries exist in Nepal. Even in Kathmandu, the capital city, there are only about 10 working libraries, each with its limitations. Every community needs a library to foster its youths. And it has to be accessible to all - not just a particular group of ethnicity, race or caste. Otherwise, it will only exacerbate the already existing socio-economic gap and representations in different levels of positions of power. Thus the primary objective of the library project is to progressively overcome the lack of opportunities resulting from the difficulty faced by the unprivileged students and locals in having easy access to information and technological resources. With the current unregulated use of the internet in Nepal by the kids, and especially after the COVID pandemic lockdown, we have found that many students are addicted to their smart gadgets. We believe that our library can contribute to diverting their attention to reading and spending their time more productively.

The proposed project is a modest effort to provide access to knowledge, information and non-formal education to the youths of Nepal, especially those places lacking such facilities. The project will encourage youths of the locality to spend their free time productively by using the easily accessible library.

Hundred's Group Hostel

Scholarship for excelling students

Nepal still lacks the necessary educational infrastructure in many regions. The good schools with a diverse choice of programs and majors are concentrated in Kathmandu. But for many students in the remote regions of Nepal, coming to Kathmandu to study is a far-fetched expensive dream. And as such their school days are limited to at most grade 10 in their village. To contribute to rectifying this situation, and making quality education accessible to even the kids from the most underprivileged background, we have launched a scholarship program.
In partnership with Hundreds group which provides the hostel, we provide the students with meals. To select the right students, we hold a nationwide entrance exam not long after the final SEE exams. We previously had 1700 applicants, from which we chose the top 30 students. To be selected, they must demonstrate academic excellence, and ensure their financial inability to continue their further studies.

Shree Jhirpu Secondary School April 2023 | Ongoing

Free Chinese Class and Meal Program

Jhirpu School is a governmental school that is underfunded as most are. It is by far the best option in terms of a secondary school for the children of Bhotekoshi, Sindhupalchok. And yet, because of insufficient funds, the school could not provide proper afternoon meals. So, after our site assessment and meetings with the school and our supporters, we agreed to provide afternoon meals for the school children. The school is also near the Nepal-China border, and we found that it will greatly benefit the local children if they can speak Chinese. So, we will also fund the free Chinese class in this school.

Ngagyur Memorial School March 17, 2023 |Ongoing

meal sponsorship

We found a school in Thankot, that boarded underprivileged kids from the mountains and provided them with free education. The school was struggling financially after the demise of their founder and also their sole funder. We truly connected with their vision and mission. So, as of current we have decided to sponsor their most immediate need - providing healthy meals for 650 students. We will be sponsoring their whole day meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner.)

Bajura School Children February 1 - February 7

Saving the skin

We found that the school children in Bajura District were suffering from extremely dried skin because of no protections against the winter cold and snow. We provided the funds to purchase all the necessary gloves and vaseline for the children and with the help of the 100's group team, we were able to successfully reach these kids from extremely remote regions.

Sending Warm Love January 1 - January 30

Warm Winter Jacket distribution

Many schools in Nepal face severe low attendance during winter. Even the ones attending cannot properly learn in the face of cold. So after visiting different schools and assessing their respective needs, we concluded that their immediate need to be something to keep them warm in winter. So before the winter hit, we brought 5000 pairs of jackets with our ever so generous supporter, Sowers Action Hongkong. This we distributed to 41 different schools and children homes.

Sowers Action Language centre May 15, 2022 - Ongoing

Free Chinese Language Class

Our mission is to provide the youths of Nepal with ample resources for educating themselves academically and vocationally. Being so, one of the first step we took to accomplish that was to provide free Chinese class. With many infrastructure projects in Nepal being led by Chinese companies, and the language itself being one of the most spoken in the world, many Nepali youths were paying exorbitant prices for chinese language classes. This limits the future opportunites for those who cannot afford such facilities. The class has been a huge success and has been greatly appreciated by the students. We currently have more than 100 participants ranging from basic level to advanced level.

Covid meal distribution May 15 - Jun 14, 2022

Free hot meal distribution

During Covid pandemic, we started a meal program because we found that many Nepalese especially the day laboreres were suffering from shortages of food. With the help of volunteers and our partners, Sowers Action Hongkong, Thrangu Monastery and the 100's group, we distributed hot meals everyday for one month. Everyday, we were feeding more than 300 people.

Manang Flood Relief Program 10 July - 17 July 2021

Covid 19 and flood relief project

The whole nation was already in dire situation in all fields, but some places like Manang's situation was further worsened by a huge flood that destroyed all accessible roads and trails. The only remaining possible access to Manang was through air. But with the help from Sowers Action Hongkong, we were able to charter a helicopter with which we made 27 trips to Manang distributing foods, medical equipments and multiple other resources required.

Shree Setidevi Basic School
13 Novembe 2021

Library, Comp. Lab & Sports

Shree Setidevi Basic School is one of the very remotely located schools in Bhotekoshi, Sindhupalchok. The students walk hours to come to the school and receive education. To further promote and provide better tools for their learning environment, we provided books and stationaries for their Library. We set up a computer lab as well. We found that the schools in mountains seldom have any exposure to computer education, thus severely limiting their learning opportunities in relation to other schools. Morevover, the computer system had been very helpful for the administration as well. Before, just to prepare and print questions and other materials required for teaching, they had to go all the way down to the city - which takes hours. This also meant the teachers who went to the city were absent from the school. They are now able to do all of it in the school. For teambuilding and fun activities, we also provided the schools with many sport equipments.

Covid Pandemic Medical Relief 10 Jun 2021 - 20 Jun 2021

Oxygen Concentrators

During peak Covid pandemic, many health facilities in Nepal were lacking in medicinal equipments and this was greatly impacting the ability of less privieged Nepalese to have access to such facilities. After our meeting with respective health field professionals and support from our partners and volunteers: Sowers Action Hongkong, Thrangu Monastery and 100's group volunteer team; we distribtued 200 oxygen concentrators among 10 district health departments in Nepal. The locals of such places are now able to freely use the oxygen concentrators we distirbuted. We are truly happy to see the difference it has made in the lives of people in Nepal.
The Districts: Kavre, Ramechap, Baraha, Mahottari, Parsa, Rautahat, Saptari, Sarlahi, Siraha & Sindhuli.
